Check Your Fuel Tank
When an oil fired boiler is serviced the technician is also required to visually inspect the fuel storage tank. This is done to ensure the tank has a proper supporting base, the gauge works properly, the pipework is free from leaks, the filters are clean, and most importantly the tank is not leaking.
The term "out of sight, out of mind" springs to mind. Why would you inspect your tank? You order the fuel, it gets delivered and the boiler keeps going. Great!
However, it is amazing how often we come across leaking fuel tanks. The lost fuel costs the unaware home owner hundreds of pounds as the undetected oil leaks into the ground. The clean up is costly both environmentally and financially.
We can offer a free quotation to supply and install a new fuel tank and dispose of your old one. An OFTEC installation certificate is issued upon completion and all work carried out conforms to current building regulations.
An OFTEC "Domestic Oil Storage Tank Spillage And Fire Risk Assessment" form is filled out. This is an assessment which determines whether or not your new fuel tank requires secondary containment (BUND) or fire protection.
There are a variety of fuel tanks in all shapes and sizes; plastic or metal, single skin or bunded. Tank choice can be a complicated process. The technician will work with you and take everything into account to complete the survey. As we are a small family business the technician who completes the survey with you will be the person who installs the tank.
All services, repairs and installations carried out in strict accordance with current OFTEC regulations.
